When communities are nearing completion or when a home has been built without a buyer in mind or when a contract has fallen through, builders offer homes as 'ready-to-move-in' or 'immediate delivery.' These homes are either finished or nearly finished, so buyers won't have to wait the typical six to nine months before settlement and move-in day.
Immediate-delivery homes are sometimes sought by bargain hunters, but the homes are not always being sold at rock-bottom prices. Instead, they include features that might have been optional for other buyers, such as a finished recreation room in the basement, whirl pool jets in the master bath, hardwood floors on the main level, a deck or upgraded granite counters in the kitchen.
Buyers who prefer to make their own choices of cabinet styles, countertops and flooring may not want an immediate-delivery home, but for some buyers, having those choices already made can be a relief.
Immediate-delivery homes are particularly appealing for families relocating to the Washington area who need to move into a home right away, or for those families who have sold an existing home and need to move fast.
These homes can be found by searching the Web sites of individual builders or at the sales offices of communities under development

Friday, October 24, 2008 30m blood centre planned for CUH By Sen McCrthaigh APPROVAL for a new 30 million centre for the Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS) in Cork is to be sought from the Government in the near future.
Proposals for the new centre, due to be located within the campus of Cork University Hospital (CUH), are expected to be presented to the Cabinet by Health Minister Mary Harney over the coming weeks.
A senior official at the Department of Health told the Dil Public Accounts Committee (PAC) yesterday that a final decision to sanction the new facility was likely soon.
