Sri Lanka parliamentarians express concern over Police circular
Thursday, October 23, 2008, 16:55 GMT, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Oct 23, Colombo: Opposition parliamentarians of Sri Lanka today expressed their concern over a circular issued by the former Inspector General of Police, Victor Perera.
United National Party Member of the Parliament Ravi Karunanayaka addressing the house said the circular issued by former IGP during his term in office has violated security of all parliamentarians, former presidents of Sri Lanka and the Speaker.
Circular E/M04/01/2008 signed by the IGP Victor Perera has clearly kept off former Presidents of Sri Lanka, Speaker, and the Members of the Parliaments from the VIP category. This circular only states of Cabinet Ministers, State Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Governors of the Provinces, Prime Minister, and the current President as VIPs. Keeping other Parliamentarians and former Presidents out of this circular brings up issues relating to their security, said Ravi Karunanayaka.

About 15 years ago, Martha McLane Rotch and Marilyn Kenison took a trip to St. Louis to accept national awards for their work on renovating Milford Town Hall and its auditorium.
What Kenison remembers most about the trip was that Patty, as she was known to everyone who knew her, wanted to go out right away and visit museums and historic spots.
That was Patty. I was ready for rest and relaxation, said Kenison. She was always curious and always wanted to learn more. I consider her one of my mentors.
The wife of longtime Cabinet publisher William Rotch, Patty Rotch died Tuesday at the age of 93. She is survived by her husband and four of her children.
A key part of the Cabinets workforce for many years, Patty Rotch also raised five children and was an active participant in Milfords community life as a Girl Scout leader and longtime school board member.
She had a deep love of local history and when, in the late 1980s, the Milford Town Hall was found to need major renovations, she became part of the drive to preserve the building.
Rotch cared very much about keeping the 19th century buildings historical appearance, and Kenison remembers her

researching the original color. She wanted to make sure the gray was the right shade, that it was historically accurate.
Rotch became chairwoman of the subcommittee to renovate the town hall auditorium, and the National Trust for Historic Preservation gave her the award in St. Louis for her work
