Nova Scotians can now apply for $500 rebates on new furnaces and interest-free loans for energy upgrades.
Under the provinces Heat Smart program, Nova Scotians who have an energy evaluation performed through the EnerGuide for Houses program can qualify for up to $5,000 in interest-free loans, which are repayable over five years.
'With its reasonable monthly payments and guaranteed energy savings, our zero-interest loan makes energy upgrades affordable for Nova Scotians,' cabinet minister Murray Scott said in a news release. He was speaking on behalf of Conserve Nova Scotia Minister Richard Hurlburt.
As well, the provinces Heating Assistance Rebate Program is offering assistance to individuals who earn $27,000 or less and families with a combined income of $42,000 or less. Eligible Nova Scotians who heat with oil, propane or natural gas may receive up to a $450 rebate, and those who heat with electricity, wood, coal or wood pellets could receive up to a $150 rebate
