Sri Lanka Parliament approves the bill to close down PERC

Oct 25, Colombo: Parliament has given approval to wind up all operations of the Public Enterprises Reform Commission of Sri Lanka (PERC) which engineered the privatization of the state properties during the previous governments.
The Public Enterprises Reform Commission of Sri Lanka Repeal bill was approved at the second reading during yesterdays Parliamentary session.
The bill will provide the necessary legal framework for the repeal of Public Enterprises Reform Commission of Sri Lanka Act no 1 of 1996, while making arrangements to transfer staff and other properties to other state departments.

Shortly after the Supreme Court stopped the signing of the agreement, MILF rebels attacked several towns in Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur and North Cotabato, leaving more than 60 civilians dead.
Esperon said Badawi assured Mrs. Arroyo that the monitoring team s mandate would be extended with the possibility of reviving negotiations in December
