She also mentioned the public expenditure reform in Nigeria where introduction of checks and balances is expected to reduce corruption.
In their country presentation, the Ugandan delegates to the conference highlighted the progress made in the country on the implementation of affirmative action. There are currently 102 women in parliament which is higher than the 30 percent of the affirmative action requirement. At the local government level, women are doing even better with 40 percent of representation, while at the cabinet level women occupy 20 percent and advocacy is ongoing to make it the 30 percent required in fulfillment of affirmative action. They are also pushing for passage of legislation on law reform, gender budgeting and the road map for maternal and reproductive health
The Sierra Leone Country Report listed the activities undertaken by the women and the progress made in engendering the political process. There are projects focusing on establishing the institutional and structural framework, economic empowerment, education including basic literacy, post conflict reconstruction and ensuring the domestication of international instruments such as CEDAW and the African Protocol on Women s Rights
