The opposition party in the Marshall Islands has been accused of wasting parliament's time after withdrawing Tuesday's motion of no-confidence.
The Marianas Variety reports about 500 people packed the parliament chamber Tuesday morning in anticipation of the vote, however the United Democratic Party said it had decided to withdraw the motion.
Several cabinet ministers objected to the motion withdrawal, calling for the vote to be held.
Finance minister Jack Ading said the government had been forced to halt planned travel and to bring people back from off-shore early for the vote, wasting time and money.
Speaker Jurelang Zedkaia criticised the opposition for wasting the parliament's time.
The government of President Litokwa Tomeing says it would have had the numbers to defeat the motion.
