Israeli prime minister-designate Tzipi Livni will announce this weekend if she intends to send voters back to the ballot box.
Livni's other option is to try to govern the 120-seat parliament by forming a possibly shaky coalition with opposition parties.
However, Tzahi Hanegbi, a cabinet minister spearheading coalition talks, told Israel's Channel Two TV Saturday that no decision has been made.
'Everything is open, everything is still possible,' he said, adding that President Shimon Peres had nonetheless been put on notice.
'Not for long of course, tomorrow afternoon she will go to the president. Maybe before the night is over we shall know what she is going to tell the president.'
On Thursday, Livni gave potential coalition politicians three days to decide if they wanted to support her Kadima party or face a snap election
SE bullish - breaches trillion dollar mark

AS the global financial system stares at a possible crush, the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE) bulls raged this past week with the key industrial index surging a massive 435, 91 percent to break the trillion dollar point mark and settle at 5 208 615 045 409,69 points by Thursday.
Just two weeks ago its bullish streak saw it breach the 1 billion-point mark.
Last week the mining index increased 435,91 percent to close at 3 581 089 636 132,60 points.
On Wednesday stocks recorded historic jumps on the local bourse with Halogen surging an unprecedented 1 063 730 percent to close the days trade at $1 500 000 000.
Only a hundred shares of the counter changed hands.
Markert analysts have said this trend is likely to continue as long as no political deal is on the horizon.
The sustainability of the equities market, like the economic prospects of the country in general, is a function of developments on the political front. The implementation of the political deal signed on 15 September 2008 by the ruling ZANU PF and the two MDC formations has been elusive since day one, Kingdom Bank analysts said in their weekly report.
Zanu (PF) and MDC have failed to agree on cabinet posts and this has seen the parties take time to implement the deal.
The matter has been referred to the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security, and the meeting failed to take place in Mbabane last week Monday and is now penciled for tomorrow in Harare.
The analysts said, reflecting the delay in the formation of the much-awaited coalition government and the resultant delay in the implementation of policies to stabilise the economy, buying pressure increased immensely on the blue chip counters which saw the equity market putting up record breaking performances each day.
In this regard, investors should continue to intensify their capital preservation efforts through investing in solid counters. A bit of cautious and temporary dip in speculative counters can be entertained as long as one is sure that there is still no progress on the political front otherwise a medium to long-term investment view should be the way to go, said the analysts.
The local bourse has increased its minimum investment amounts to $100 billion per counter with effect from Thursday and the figure will be reviewed from time to time depending on the stock market activity.
While the ZSE is on the bullish run South African blue-chips on the JSE slid more than 2 percent on Thursday, tracking global stocks lower as worries mount about a looming recession and investors dump more risky emerging markets.
The Top-40 index of blue-chip stocks fell 2.05 percent to 18,073.62 points.
Standard Bank, Africa's biggest bank by assets, fell more than 4 percent in the morning after reporting 9-month profits but recovered to trade in line with the broader market.
