The American School was open Tuesday and classes were held as officials are not aware of the closure order from Prime Minister Naji Otari. Employees at the cultural center also reported for work unaware of the order made during a cabinet meeting.
The Syrian cabinet also condemned the raid on al-Sukkariah village in Abu Kamal near the Iraqi border by U.S. soldiers in helicopters. Eight people were killed during the attack aimed at capturing an Al-Qaeda operative who smuggle foreign fighters, weapons and cash into Iraq.
