A U.S. military official said the raid by special forces targeted a foreign-fighter network that travels through Syria into Iraq. The military says it has been unable to shut the network down in the area because Syria has been out of its reach.
'We are taking matters into our own hands,' the official told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because of the political sensitivity of cross-border raids.
In another development Sunday, Iraq's cabinet delayed a decision on a draft security agreement that would keep U.S. troops in Iraq for three more years. The Bush administration has been hoping for quick agreement by the Iraqis on the pact, which needs to be approved by parliament before the U.N. mandate expires at the end of the year.

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 26: MP Ahmad Al-Mulaifi has announced his plan to submit a grilling request against HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah on Nov 6.
