NEW DELHI: The Centre on Wednesday approved the proposal to ban publication and broadcast of exit polls till the last phase of voting is over. The Cabinet also approved the move to amend the Representation of the People Act, 1951 that would allow the government to introduce a Bill in Parliament in this connection.
The restriction on telecast of exit polls would enable people to exercise their right to vote without being influenced by the projection of telecast after one phase
of voting is over and other phases of voting are yet to be completed, said Finance Minister P Chidambaram.
The government is planning to bring the amendment in the coming session beginning on October 17. Six states, including Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan,
are due for elections this year while the next Lok Sabha elections are slated for early 2009

In anticipation of hibernation, bears enter an 'eating frenzy' known as hyperphagia this time of year. In hyperphagia, a bear may eat 20,000 calories and gain several pounds, or more, per day. Adult bears can pile on more than 100 pounds before denning.

This was a good berry year in the Cabinet -Yaak and southern Rocky Mountains and not so good in the Northern Rockies along the Eastern Front. Fruits, grasses, forbes and meat, usually the remains of hunters' killed animals, are also central to a bear's fall diet.
While preparing for hibernation, bears are easily tempted to score calories where apples or plums are left on or under trees, or where livestock feed, dog food, garbage and other foods are left outdoors and accessible
